Devant près de 200 pères synodaux, Léon et Valentine Botolo, de République démocratique du Congo, mariés depuis 40 ans, ont demandé à Rome d'inciter "les Eglises locales d'Afrique à engager une contre-offensive déterminée, en vue de résister aux pressions des gouvernements occidentaux et des organisations non gouvernementales internationales, visant à faire adopter le mariage homosexuel aux pays africains".
