One of my readers performed a test of the Nexus Revo, an anal dildo specially designed for men. As he is not fluent in french, here is his original report in english.
I’ve heard lately on the radio that there are professionals sex toys critics nowadays. According to the old saying, that the biggest sex organs in the human body is the brain, I believe that anyone who is equipped with one is entitled to review sex toys for a living or simply for fun. I don’t know where to put the line between a professional critic and my personal opinion when it comes to describe my intimate experience with a specific toy. As much as I appreciate the trust of all you readers out there I’d like to take a moment and remind myself that any of my sexual experiences was subjected to my emotional and mental states as well as my personal preferences and that my opinion about any sex toys is as any good as any other opinion. You don’t need a college degree to know if you enjoyed or not.
The reason I’m explaining all of this is because I’d like to give you my opinion today about the Nexus Revo anal vibrator with which I had a controversial experience. When I first got this toy into my hands, it seemed to me like a guaranteed pleasure. Just looking at its shape and size I immediately started to imagine how it would feel like and couldn’t wait to test it. My expectation level was rising as the days passed by. Yet a couple of days later, when I finally fond the time to fulfill my duty as a sex toy critic, I had a mild impression. To be honest, I was simply disappointed. My body had little reaction to this toy. Nevertheless, I do not think that my personal body reaction deserved this toy a negative review. I believe that it has a lot of potential and a lot of you readers will enjoy it. Who knows, maybe it was simply not my day.
The packaging
Starting with the package, the Nexus Revo arrived in a very elegant dark cardboard box. Inside the box I’ve found a short and simple to understand instructions manual, an elegant black cloth bag to keep the vibrator save from dust and of course one purple gray curved anal vibrator.
All in all I’ve found the packing very elegant and pleasant. Still, a couple of minor things were still missing to my opinion. I believe that sex toy are by definition a potential birthday, Christmas or valentine day gifts and as such I expect them to be ready for use the moment you get them out of the box. Therefore, I expected both lubrication and batteries to get a proper attention.
As far as lubrication is concerned, I am controversial whether it should really be provided with the package or not. I’m not a big fan of the tiny samples you sometimes get with toys. Lubrication – especially with anal toys – should be used generously and those miniature bags might give the wrong impression that one drop should be enough. On top of that, the type, brand or flavor of lubrication is also a matter of personal preference. Therefore in this sense, I do not hold the manufacturer accountable to provide the lubrication, however I think it is their responsibility to make it very clear on the package that this toy is not complete without it.
Regarding the batteries my opinion is a bit more conservative and I think that there are no good excuses here. If the toy is not rechargeable – and the Nexus revo is not – please give us for that price also couple of batteries and don’t send us to the kiosk at the corner of the street in the middle of the night.
The design
As I already mentioned before, I’ve found the shape and size of the Nexus Revo very good. It’s not too big and therefore I believe it would be pretty suitable for people with little experience, yet it’s not too small either and provide enough pressure when inserted.
The main shaft of the Nexus-Revo has varying width, where the tip is the widest part of it and the basis of the shaft is narrowest. The tip being widest might impose a little bit challenging for those who try an anal toy for the first time. Yet, once you’ve gently passed the anus muscles at the beginning the rest of the journey is much easier. On the other side the basis of the shaft being thinnest, allows it to rest inside the body comfortably once fully inserted. The round design of the shaft makes it very easy to clean and does not accumulate or catch dirt.
The base of the Revo contains the controls, the battery compartment and a vibrating component which makes it a little bit bulky. The relatively big base allows a good hand grip of it yet gets a little bit in the way, when sitting in such position that the Revo is pressed against the surface on which you’re sitting.
At the front of the base you can find small points sticking out which should stimulate the back of the genital area and the testicles. The structure of the battery compartment’s door unfortunately is not water proof. The manufacture recommends the use of a wet cloth for cleaning but I admit that I was using running water with a lot of caution, not to get any drop inside the electrical parts.
Unfortunately I cannot provide any feedback regarding the materials and texture or the Revo. This is due to fact, that I was testing the Revo using a condom. From my previous experience with other anal dildos and vibrators I came to realize that the material and textures are playing a huge role if a specific toy fits me or not. While many toys feel very similar in the hand, when inserted anally – also when using ample amount of lubrication – some may cause irritation or burning reaction while others will go in smoothly. This is obviously a question of personal chemistry and therefore, you will have to find for yourself.
Functions and operation
The Revo is operated by a single button and can switch between different states of operation from rotation of the tip of the shaft to vibration – either constant or pulses – of the base unit and the combination of both of them.
I think it could have been nice to have an option to control the intensity of the vibration. For me it was a little bit too intense. On the other hand, the rotation of the tip of the shaft felt nice, yet the sensation was mild and it seemed that my body did not react on it very strongly. I had the most fun when all engines were off. Sometimes less is more, but each of us has different body and different needs.
All in all
Before closing this article, I’ve noticed on Nexus’ webpage that they offer the next generation of Revo model called “Revo 2”. From the technical description it seems that the younger brother of Revo 1 while keeping the same design addresses some of the issued referred to in this article.
Although from my personal and sensual point of view, the Revo and I did not fit together, I think that this toy has a lot of potential. I’m sure a lot of you readers out there will enjoy it.
I must emphasize again that when it comes to sex toys, it’s a matter of personal preference and chemistry between you and your toy, so the only way to find out if this one is for you, is to get one and try it out. Have fun!
